Information
About Bide+
Timetables and real-time public transport in the Basque Country, in a single app. In Bizkaibus+, arrivals are worked out from the GPS position of each bus. An independent, unofficial project, not affiliated with the operators.
Frequently asked questions
Are arrivals in real time?
It depends on the network. In Bizkaibus+ the arrival is worked out from the GPS position of each bus and how long buses really take on each stretch. Metro+, the trams, Renfe Cercanías+, Tuvisa+, Dbus+ and Álavabus+ show live what each operator publishes. Euskotren+, Bilbobus+, Lurraldebus+ and La Unión+ show the official timetable, labelled «Timetable only», because their operators do not yet publish live data for their trains and buses; as soon as they do, Bide+ will use it on its own.
What does «Estimated» mean?
That the bus is in service but is not sending its position. The arrival is worked out by the Bide+ algorithm, from how long buses really take on that stretch.
Does it work offline?
Yes, if you save the timetable of your networks under «Offline timetables», in Settings. With no signal, stops show their next departures from the official timetable (in Bizkaibus, also the estimated time from how long buses really take), and live times come back as soon as you are online.
How do I install Bide+ on my phone?
Install it from Chrome or Firefox on Android, or from Safari on iPhone. On Android, open Bide+ in Chrome and tap «Install» in the banner below or in the browser's ⋮ menu; in Firefox, ⋮ menu → «Install». On iPhone, open it in Safari, tap Share and choose «Add to Home Screen». Other browsers, such as DuckDuckGo, only create a shortcut to the website: it opens inside the browser and gets no alerts while the app is closed.
What changes if I install Bide+?
Almost everything works without installing it: timetables, real time, the network map, search, «Near me», favourites, alerts and offline timetables. Installed, it opens full screen, with the bottom bar and its own icon. On Android and on a computer, notifications also work without installing it, from Chrome or Firefox. On iPhone and iPad they only arrive with Bide+ installed, and if you do not install it and do not open it for 7 days, Safari may delete your favourites and saved timetables. From the Instagram browser or other apps' browsers, neither notifications nor installing work: open it in Chrome or Safari. To install it, see «How do I install Bide+ on my phone?».
How do I save a stop or a line?
Tap the heart on the stop, the station or the line. Your favourites appear in the Favourites tab and in every app.
How do I find out about disruptions?
In Alerts you can see the disruptions on your favourites, and in Settings you can have your phone notify you of each new one, even with the app closed.
How often are timetables updated?
Every day, on their own, from the official data the operators publish. On each line, «See the official timetable» shows it by period (Monday to Friday, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays…) with today marked, and each line timetable shows the dates it is valid for.
Is it an official app?
No. Bide+ is an independent project that uses the operators' open data. If in doubt, what each operator says is what counts.
Which apps are in Bide+?
Twelve: Bizkaibus+, Metro+, Euskotren+, Renfe Cercanías+, Lurraldebus+ (with the Tolosa town bus), Tranvía Bilbao+, Tranvía Vitoria+, Bilbobus+, Tuvisa+, Dbus+, Álavabus+ and La Unión+ (the buses between Bizkaia and Vitoria-Gasteiz). The icons of Bilbobus+, Álavabus+, Dbus+ and Tuvisa+ are provisional.
How do I remove the notification or location permissions?
In Settings: «Turn off notifications» cancels all your alerts, and «Stop using my location» makes «Near me» stop asking for it. A website cannot remove its own permission: to remove it completely, change it in the browser settings (in Chrome, the icon next to the address; on iPhone, Settings › Notifications or Privacy › Location Services).

Route plannerIn development
Tell Bide+ where you start and where you are going, and it plans the whole trip across every network: bus, metro, train and tram, with the transfers, how long each leg takes, where to change and what it costs.
- Transfers within one network or between networks, like a route map: each leg with its line, the waiting time and the stop or station where you change.
- Trip cost based on the transport you choose.
- Live tracking of your current trip: where you are, how long until the transfer and your arrival time, updated with real-time data.
- Optionally, a notification on your phone a little before each transfer. You turn it on when planning the trip.
What's new
Network status
A new page, Network status, shows how many buses, trains and trams are live right now on each network, their alerts and how much better Bide+ does than the timetable; it is on the home page, next to the map. Each stop shows the incidents that affect it at the top. Metro, Renfe and the trams show their live times as each operator publishes them, and Euskotren shows its timetable, because what it publishes as live is its own timetable. Álavabus works out the delay from each bus's GPS when the times it publishes do not add up. On Bizkaibus, a bus that briefly drops out of the data stays live. And on the computer, the side column shows four favourites and the rest by scrolling.

Tomorrow's departures
When a stop has no more departures today, it shows tomorrow's first ones («tomorrow 07:00»), offline too, and the trip card says it leaves tomorrow. Metro, Euskotren, Renfe and the trams now say «timetables and real time». In the phone and tablet browser, the home page has a ☰ menu with Favourites, Alerts, Settings and Info. The estimated time of trips that have no bus assigned yet is more accurate. And in Info, a new question: what changes if you install Bide+.
More buses live
Bizkaibus+ now tracks live almost every bus that sends its GPS: the official timetable drew some routes backwards, and those buses only showed the timetable. A bus waiting at the first stop of its journey now shows live too, as «At the stop», and when there is no data at all from the bus, the app says so: «No bus data». On a computer, the left column stays fixed and no longer covers the footer. If a journey has no bus assigned yet, its card says so. And the error page links to every app.
Share a stop
You can now share a stop as well as a journey: the link opens its next departures live. It is on the share icon of each stop or station, and on a journey card, next to «Share this journey».
Official timetable in every app
In every app, «View official timetable» on each line shows its timetable by period: Monday to Friday, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and special days, with the departures in each direction and today marked. It updates itself every day with the operator timetable.
Álavabus live and your permissions
Álavabus+ shows the next buses in real time, with the delay of each one and where it is on the map. In Settings you can turn off notifications and stop using your location whenever you want, and it tells you how to remove the browser permission too. Lurraldebus+ adds the Tolosa town bus. The icons of Bilbobus+, Álavabus+, Dbus+ and Tuvisa+ are still provisional.
La Unión+ between Bilbao and Vitoria
La Unión+ is here, with the Autobuses La Unión buses between Bizkaia and Vitoria-Gasteiz: Bilbao, the Left and Right Banks, Leioa, Algorta and Loiu airport. With the official timetable, the route of each line on the map and the stop list of each trip.
Bilbobus, Tuvisa, Dbus and Álavabus
Four new apps: Bilbobus+ (Bilbao buses), Tuvisa+ (Vitoria-Gasteiz), Dbus+ (Donostia) and Álavabus+ (Álava buses). Tuvisa and Dbus run in real time, with the delay of each bus and the buses on the line map; Tuvisa also brings its disruptions. Bilbobus and Álavabus, with the official timetable. Their icons are provisional.
Trains on the map
In Renfe Cercanías+ and Metro+, the map of each line shows where each train is right now, with its destination and, when you tap it, the station it is at or heading to; in Renfe, its delay too. In Euskotren and the trams, which do not publish where their trains are, the map shows the route without saying that nothing is running.
Renfe live
Renfe Cercanías+ shows the delay of each train live, at the stop, on the trip sheet and on the stop screen. Cancelled trains show as «Cancelled» and, until their time, also as a disruption at the stations they were due to call at, with a notification if you have them on. Also, the timetable now comes from Renfe, which publishes it every day: the Donostia one is fixed.
Euskotren and trams live
Euskotren+, Bilbao Tram+ and Vitoria Tram+ show the next trains and trams live, with their delay, like Metro+. The trip sheet has live times and «Notify me when it arrives». And with the Alerts tab open, disruptions refresh by themselves every 5 minutes.
Update notices
When a new version of Bide+ comes out, you get a notification (if you allow them) and the Settings cog shows a red 1. In Settings you see what it brings and install it with «Clear cache and update». Also, on the web the footer stays when you open Settings, Info, Alerts or Favourites.
Sharper estimated times
When there is no data from the bus, the Bizkaibus estimated time also takes into account how late each trip usually runs at the start, middle and end of its route, learned from real passages over the last few days. It is more accurate: the average error drops from 3.5 to 2.6 minutes. It works online and in the timetables saved for offline use.
Official timetable, up to date
In Bizkaibus «See the official timetable» you get today's period and the upcoming ones, with the single days of the same period together on one card (for example, 24 and 31 December). What has already ended is not shown, and when the year changes last year's go away. The button no longer carries the year.
Alerts that clear themselves
In every app, a «Notify me when it arrives» alert notifies you once and disappears from the app as soon as the notification arrives. If you tick «Notify me every day», it notifies you every day that journey runs until you cancel it on the trip card or in Settings. Tapping the notification opens the stop with the journey, also on iPhone with the app closed, and reopening the app no longer takes you back to that journey. Disruption notifications open the Alerts tab of their app when you tap them. On Android, the small status-bar icon is now the Bide+ one.
Offline, like online
In Settings you can save every network at once. With no signal, Bizkaibus shows the estimated time from how long buses really take and, underneath, the official one; and on any network you can mark whether a bus has already gone. Online, estimated times also show the official one underneath. The offline notice is now a small pill at the bottom. And in Favourites, Alerts, Settings and Info the title stays fixed at the top as you scroll.
More accurate arrivals
When few buses have been measured on a stretch at a given time of day, how long they take then is completed with how long they take at any time. Arrivals are a little more accurate, especially those 5 to 20 minutes away. And in Info, the question on installing Bide+ says which browser to use: Chrome or Firefox on Android and Safari on iPhone.
Version, cache and location
In Settings you can see the app version, clear the cache if something doesn't load, and check and grant location for «Near me».
Settings
A new tab with the language, notifications (disruptions on your favourites and your active arrival alerts, which you can cancel), offline timetables and a button to delete your data from the phone.
Disruptions with the app closed
Disruption alerts for your favourites now arrive even if you don't open the app: the server sends them every few minutes, for all the apps at once. If you already had them on, they now work this way without you doing anything.
Notify me when it arrives
On a trip's card, pick 2, 5 or 10 minutes and your phone will alert you before it reaches your stop, even with the app closed. On iPhone, with Bide+ added to the Home Screen.
Bide+ in English
The whole app, now in English too. If your phone is in English, Bide+ opens in English; you can switch language whenever you like.
Stop screen
Every stop has its own full-screen display with the next departures and the time, updating on its own. Made for a TV or tablet in a bar, a building entrance or a shop.
Share your journey
From a trip's card, send a link to anyone: they open it live and see where your bus or train is and when it arrives.
Offline timetables
From Info you can save the official timetable of the networks you use on your phone. With no signal, every stop still shows its next departures. Also new: frequently asked questions and a place to send suggestions or report bugs.
Network map
Every line of the seven networks on the map, with each line's diagram, the minutes between stops and the transfers. You can search for any line or stop and switch each network on separately.
Buses without GPS
When a bus does not send its position, its arrival is shown as «Estimated» and worked out from how long buses really take. The bus details show the same early or late time as the stop you open them from.
More reliable Renfe
Every Renfe station can be found, including those that start with a zero, and the Vado-Cervera timetables now show up.
Always today's timetables
The timetables of every network are refreshed every day from the official data, and each line's timetable shows the dates it is valid for.
Lurraldebus+
Lurraldebus+ is here, with the Gipuzkoa buses of seven operators and the street address of every stop.
Smarter search
Search finds the stop even if you type the town and the street in any order.
Easier to find
Every stop and every line has its own page, so you can get there straight from Google.
More accurate journeys
Every Bizkaibus bus uses the exact calendar of its day, and the journey details no longer mark a bus as gone when there is no live data for it.
Clearer delays
The delay is written out next to the minutes: «5 min late» or «2 min early». In Bizkaibus+, without GPS the last stop the bus went past is used, and in Metro+ the train's route moves along with the clock.
More accurate Bizkaibus arrivals
Some buses were using the times of a different kind of day (for example, holiday times on a weekday) and the app marked them as gone too early. Now every journey has its own official times, and on stretches like the motorway to Gernika the arrival is worked out from how long buses really take.
Metro+ live
The next Metro Bilbao trains arrive live, with their delay, thanks to the Bizkaia Transport Consortium. Fixed the trams that disappeared on some days.
Easier to use
The phone's back button works properly, the active tab stands out more and the colours meet the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines.
Bide+, a single app
All the apps inside Bide+: tabs on your phone, a side column on your computer and Favourites, Alerts and Info pages. Better security and a better position in search engines.
Trams, Renfe and buses by GPS
Bilbao Tram+, Vitoria Tram+ and Renfe Cercanías+ are here. In Bizkaibus+, arrivals are worked out from the GPS position of the bus along its route.
